Hayhurst Elementary is one of the schools being honored at the fourth annual The HEART of Portland: A Portland Public Schools K-12 Arts Showcase on Wednesday, April 11th at the Portland Art Museum.
As a thank you to taxpayers for their support of the Arts Tax, this year’s event features a free open reception with a robust, district-wide visual art exhibit and student performances throughout the night.
The student being honored from Hayhurst Elementary is Brooklyn Nelson.
The fourth-graders in Mrs. Lane’s class have also been included in the show. They will have on display during the night their Shadow Boxes. Each student in the class created one Shadow Box with objects and artwork that represent HOME. Other schools will also have theirs on display.
Superintendent Guadalupe Guerrero will open the reception. They will be joined by Portland Art Museum Executive Director Brian Ferriso, PPS School Board members, PPS arts teachers and the greater community.
