I have some unfortunate news to share. Elizabeth Singer Hunt (the author scheduled to visit Hayhurst in May) had a medical crisis in her immediate family and has had to cancel her book tour. Cancellations rarely happen but under these circumstances it’s understandable and we wish her family all the best and look forward to having a visit from her another time.
If you turned in an order for her books from Green Bean Books please let me know via email (ljones2@pps.net) what you’d like to do with your order:
- Send the check and order form home with your student
- You can pick it up in the office.
- If you would still like the books when they come out in May (and want to support a local children’s bookstore) Green Bean Books will still fulfill your order when the books are published in May and deliver them to Hayhurst. In that case I’ll pass your order and check on to Green Bean Books.

Green Bean Books was so excited to start bringing authors to Hayhurst and the owner is so apologetic that this happened. I am working with her on finding another author we can schedule before the end of the school year; however, at this late date it’s possible the author we book may be appropriate for different grade levels. I’ll keep you posted.
