News reports are it’s a bad flu season. The County Health Department provides the following information about the flu:

The flu is a contagious disease caused by influenza germs.  Flu can lead to mild to serious illness, and can sometimes lead to hospitalization and death.

The best way to prevent the flu is to get a flu shot. Flu is spread from person to person by coughing, sneezing, and talking. Everyone over 6 months of age should get a flu shot each year.  It’s never too early or too late to get one. Flu vaccine is very safe.

You should also stay home if you are sick.  Cover coughs and sneezes, and wash your hands frequently with soap and water, or use a hand sanitizer to avoid getting sick.
