Hayhurst sent four of its top chess players to the Yuletide Tournament at La Salle High School. The team tied for most points overall by an elementary school (13), with Pace Lykins also taking 1st overall in the K-3 division with a perfect score of 5.0. Sam Heinenen, Jasper Defrain, and Annika Lykins also posted great results and will see their ratings rise in the weeks ahead.
The team travels to the Corvallis Fall Open on December 16, then to the Catlin Gabel Chess Festival on January 6 (register by December 31 for the early bird discount).
