Trunk or Treat

Join us for a ghoulishly fun time on October 29 between 4:30-6:30 PM.

Vermont Hills Church has graciously agreed to partner with us to put on a safe community friendly Trunk or Treat event. We wanted to have a 2-hour time frame open for families to drop by to hopefully promote staggering.

While this is an outside event, masks will be required to be worn along with any optional Halloween costumes. Community is welcome to drop by to allow their kids to meander from car to car, collecting treats. Adult supervision is required for all participating students!

The Essentials

  • Place: Vermont Hills Church parking lot (church located at the end of SW Iowa & SW 55th)
  • Date: Friday, October 29, 2021
  • Time: Please drop by between 4:30-6:30 PM
  • Masks: Required
  • Costumes: Optional
  • Sign up for a trunk
  • Candy donations welcome: Look for the Candy lady outside the school next week (10/18/-10/22) collecting donations before and after school.
  • Rain or Shine

What is Trunk or Treat?

The premise is simple: candy loaded trunks will be in the parking lot, and kids and chaperons will wander around, collect candy and vote for your favorite trunk! Prize awarded to the best trunk!

On the 29th, cars who’ve signed up will park their cars prior to the event and deck out their trunk with Halloween decorations. Typically, trunk hosts will wear costumes that go along with their theme and sometimes have some fun surprises waiting for the kiddos. Candy will be provided to hosting trunks.

This year, families can take part without a trunk if they so choose. Examples of treat-giving alternatives to trunks: set up a decorated table, set up a faux candy hedge with PVP piping or create a “candy chute.”

Popular themes in years passed include decorating with children’s TV or movie characters or setting a scene, like the old west. Pinterest has LOTS of ideas!
